Workshop ‘Keeping the faith’
April 28 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Cultivating a FAITH THAT LASTS in our Children and Young People Workshop
Designed for: parents, leaders of children and youth, and grandparents.
Facilitators: Jim and Sonia
Description: Sonia and I recently attended a conference lead by Jake Mulder (one of the authors of the popular intergenerational ministry book GROWING YOUNG).
Jake highlighted the fact that over the last thirty years young people have been leaving the all the denominations of the Christian Church at an alarming rate. In response to this crisis, a team from Fuller University conducted a research project with over 250 congregations and looked carefully at why many young people decide to stay in church despite this growing trend. There are many churches that are engaging young people and, as a result, are seeing them grow spiritually, missionally and numerically without driving older generations out the door. Sonia and I will explain how we can deliver effective discipleship in both our churches and our homes that lasts and how we can position our church to engage all our young generations in a way that breathes vitality, life and energy into the whole church.
Workshop 1: Sunday 28 April: 4.30 – 7pm at SVCC(there will be further workshops in the future)
The event will include a Family BBQ selling hamburgers for $3.
Children will be able to enjoy a suitable DVD whilst being supervised in the Kidszone building.
