Rev Matt Cave

Rev Matt Cave is SVCC’s Kiwi Minister. Trained in the New Zealand Presbyterian Church Matt has over 8 years pastoral leadership experience along with a work background in music, accounting, & administration. Matt’s a big advocate for a continual nurturing of community within the church seeking unity, equality, peace, & spiritual / mental wellbeing for all church members. Being present in the local community is a big part of Matt’s vision for sharing the Gospel so he’s looking forward to making himself known & building relationships with the local community groups, school, local businesses, & anyone else willing to stop for a chat – preferably over a good coffee! Matt constantly seeks to teach & preach the scriptures faithfully, so every member grows in maturity in their relationship with God in Christ. Speaking of study Matt is a voracious learner / a forever student who’s interests range from movies, music, ancient history, archaeology, theology, & a few other ‘ologies’. He’s a collector of useless pieces of information along with an unusual fascination with fountain pens! Matt has been a musician for decades having played in bands & worship groups, usually on the electric bass & singing, but also tinkles the ivories now & again. Matt’s CEO & better half is Charlene (you can call her Char). She is of Maori descent with a great sense of humour & fun. Ask her to join in with any kids / youth games & you’ll definitely be laughing in no time. But watch out because she always plays to win! Char trained up to post grad level in exercise science but has found her place working in Mental Heath where she will work full-time within the community with those in need. Char loves to find her own place in the church community, often quietly working in the background filling those empty gaps needing attention. Matt & Char are excited for this new chapter at SVCC & look forward to getting to know everyone.

Monique Dreyer
Children and Families

Monique is our interim children and families worker. She is a primary school teacher. When she was young she used to love playing as a teacher! She also loves children, the beach, the mountains, and reading.

Monique is excited for the newly renovated Kidzone space which is almost ready for use!

Vicki MacPherson
Pastoral Care

Vicki co-ordinates the pastoral care support to our church family; quite a contrast to her role as a Warrant Officer in the Army when she first joined us in 2001. Vicki has a passion for listening to and recording the stories of older people and people with disabilities. She sees herself as a connector of people along the discipleship pathway. Vicki’s heart is to see our church working together in unity to fulfil God's purposes.

Rod Adam
Church Council Chairman

Rod Adam has served Samford Valley Community Church fastidiously over the past three decades, many of which have been on Church Council. Rod regularly brings the Message on a Sunday, enjoys Men's ministry and leading his faith community with an open heart and ear.
